This degree will equip you with the knowledge and skills needed for working in the health and wellness sectors. It covers a broad range of health-related topics from cultural awareness and exercise prescription to health promotion to human nutrition and will provide you with the communication, problem solving, critical analysis and teamwork skills required within the multidisciplinary field of health promotion. Some of the areas you鈥檒l study include: the determinants of health and health inequalities; settings-based approaches to health promotion 鈥搘here we live, learn, work and play; cultural understandings of health within the context of Aotearoa New Zealand; disability and health鈥 physical activity prescription for health; disease and rehabilitation; research design and implementation. Work placements with organisations involved in health promotion (such as Community and Public Health | Te Mana Ora, M膩ori and Pacific health providers and workplace wellness) will give you real-world experience and ensure you鈥檙e work-ready when you graduate. Part-time up to 6 years.
