In New Zealand's boatbuilding industry, apprentices in marine interior learn to transform empty hulls into functional, beautiful living and working spaces 鈥 from luxury yacht cabins and galley systems to practical fishing vessel fitouts.

Working alongside experienced tradespeople, you鈥檒l develop precision skills and learn to work with marine-grade materials built to withstand harsh ocean environments. You鈥檒l start with foundational tasks like template-making and measuring in tight spaces, then move on to more complex projects involving cabinetry, trim work, and finishing.

As you advance, you'll team up with specialists across different roles 鈥 including interior coatings marine trimming and interior designers. You'll be part of teams that takes pride in crafting exceptional interiors that bring vessels to life.

As a work-based apprenticeship, you can earn while you learn. You'll need to be employed in the industry to train on the job as you work toward your trade qualification, and MAST Academy supports you throughout with a dedicated Training Advisor. Entry requirements

Applicants must have legal eligibility to study in New Zealand (immigration status verified), be currently employed in a relevant sector, be at least 16 years of age and meet English language requirements.
