NZQF Level 4

魅影直播 the course

As a marine coatings apprentice, you鈥檒l learn how to protect and finish vessels to the highest standards. Working alongside experienced painters you鈥檒l master surface preparation, application techniques, and the science behind marine-grade paints and protective coatings that perform in demanding saltwater conditions.

Training covers all aspects of the trade, and you鈥檒l have the opportunity to specialise in either exterior or interior coatings. The exterior strand focuses on hull preparation, primers, antifouling systems, topcoats, and protective finishes designed to endure harsh marine environments. The interior strand builds your expertise in preparation and coating application for cabins, joinery, and living spaces 鈥 where precision and aesthetic quality are essential.

Whichever pathway you choose, you鈥檒l develop an eye for quality, learning how environmental conditions affect application and how to achieve flawless finishes on everything from small recreational craft to large recreational vessels. A flawless finish becomes the reward for precision, patience and pride in every detail.

As a work-based apprenticeship, you can earn while you learn. You'll need to be employed in the industry to train on the job as you work toward your trade qualification, and MAST Academy supports you throughout with a dedicated Training Advisor. Not sure where to start? MAST can help with career pathway advice, pre-trade training, or our Launch it 鈥 School to Work programme.
