The scholarship is to assist in the education and training of undergraduate classical piano students at the New Zealand School of Music at Te Herenga Waka 鈥 Victoria University of Wellington. This scholarship was established in 2023 through a bequest from David Philps Eade to assist classical pianists studying at the New Zealand School of Music. Recipients must demonstrate exceptional piano performance ability through a recorded audition of four pieces of contrasting mood, tempo and style: any composition of Bach, Scarlatti or Handel; a fast movement from a work by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven or Schubert; one Romantic composition; and one 20th/21st-century work. One of the four pieces must be a virtuosic etude. Recipients will be expected to perform in a concert honouring the memory of David P Eade and demonstrate engagement within the New Zealand School of Music community through participation in ensembles and masterclasses.
Entry requirements
This scholarship will be open to classical piano students intending to enrol Te K艒k墨 New Zealand School of Music. Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents. Selection will be based on current NCEA progress and the applicants will be assessed on their performance they submit as part of the scholarship specific documentation.
