Applications are now open for the Averil Ethel Lau Foundation Scholarship.
This scholarship is for students who are intending to study, as their major subject, horticulture or any horticulture related course in 2026 on a full-time basis.
This scholarship is offered to students from schools within the K膩piti/Horowhenua region or other New Zealand school where the student is normally resident in the areas covered by the K膩piti Coast District Council or Horowhenua District Council.

鈥 Applications must be received by 9 am Monday 6 October 2025.
鈥 Enclose a copy of your most recent Qualification and Achievement Summary from NZQA.
鈥 Enclose a copy of your most recent school report (if live reporting, please print off comments) which records your academic performance for 2025.
鈥 Ask your Principal, Deputy Principal, Assistant Principal, Dean or any other teacher/staff member who knows you well, to complete the section regarding your suitability for this scholarship.
What you receive
Payment will be made to the successful applicant on receipt of documentation which confirms enrolment in their stated tertiary course in 2026.
Entry requirements
- The scholarship is open to any student normally resident in the areas covered by the K膩piti Coast District Council and the Horowhenua District Council.
- Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.
- Applicants must be attending a New Zealand Secondary School in 2025 to be eligible.
- Applicants must be intending to attend a New Zealand University or other New Zealand tertiary institution in 2026 on a full time basis.
- Applicants must be intending to study, as their major subject, horticulture or any horticulture related course.
