Here at Eastland Generation, we鈥檙e renewable energy specialists. We manage geothermal power plants in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, a hydro scheme in Hawke鈥檚 Bay and a utility scale solar farm in Tair膩whiti, with more exciting projects in the pipeline.
We鈥檙e offering a $5,000 scholarship to support a local engineering or science student during their 2026 academic year. In addition, we may provide a paid internship over summer 2026/2027, based at our geothermal stations in Kawerau.
To be eligible for a scholarship, you must be:
鈥 Enrolled as an engineering or science tertiary student, or a high school graduate preparing to start university in 2026.
鈥 Pursuing a relevant engineering or science degree and have a keen interest in renewable energy and the geothermal industry.
鈥 Come from Tair膩whiti or the Eastern Bay of Plenty areas.
鈥 Be a New Zealand citizen or a permanent resident.
Candidates will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
鈥 Academic excellence.
鈥 Demonstrated character and leadership qualities.
鈥 Involvement in the community.
鈥 Potential to make a significant contribution to the engineering or science industries in New Zealand.
Your application should include the following:
鈥 A well-structured CV highlighting your academic and extracurricular achievements.
鈥 Transcript or summary of your educational results.
鈥 Written references that provide insights into your character and potential.
鈥 A one-page budget plan demonstrating your financial responsibility and how you would use the scholarship.
鈥 A 350 - 500 word application essay or 3 鈥 5 minute video explaining your passion for engineering or science and the geothermal industry, and how this scholarship will help you achieve your goals.
Application deadline: October 31 2025
鈥 Interviews with shortlisted candidates will take place in late November and early December.
鈥 Scholarship recipient/s will be announced in December.
