Entry requirements

The Scholarship will be awarded to a candidate who is intending to enrol full-time in a PhD specialising in the area of Marine Science. The basis of selection will be academic merit as assessed by the grade point average (GPA) or grade point equivalent (GPE) calculated over the qualifying programme for entry to the PhD and the quality and relevance of the proposed research to the academic mission of the University of Auckland's Institute of Marine Science. Where a completed programme with a University of Auckland GPA or GPE is the basis for entry to the PhD, an applicant must have a GPA/GPE of 7.00 or above (6.50) for Maori or Pacific candidates) in that programme to be eligible for scholarship consideration. Where a qualifying programme is entirely pass/fail, the University may generate a GPA only where the programme consists entirely of a thesis (see Note I).
